Some Favorites for 2021, part 2

Speed Snake par EVOL

Robotic experimental drone. Listen to this and (try to) read a Kenji Siratori book. Enjoy. Or not.

Let It Warp par Turner Williams Jr.

About "Let It Warp", Williams says "This music was shaped by the thirty-two winds of Marseille: Well, i do live here, and i've never heard of 32 winds ? One is fucking annoying enough! Turner Williams makes improvisation music with his electric "shahi baajas".... It is strangely soothing, intriguing and there is something in his music that keeps you hypnotized, for whatever reason! Turner brought Alabama to France, who can blame him? From South to South....

Treacherous Smile by Appropriate Savagery, and the disquieting Night The Door Opened by The Palladists

You know what my favorite labels are? I can't even tell you, there are too many out there.. Yet, Audio. Visuals. Atmospheres is on my top list. Niels Geybels is doing such a great job! How can you pick just one favorite from this exciting label? Impossible. But I have to chose, right? I could have chosen False Moniker or Sequences (essential bands of the label), but it would have been too easy! Try the slightly noisy Behind The Rope, Your Treacherous Smile by Appropriate Savagery, and the disquieting Night The Door Opened by The Palladists

1221 par Andrew Liles

Sounds like it's kind of obvious, but what did Andrew Liles was exicting AF! One track for each month of the year. And listen to this!! Who said that Andrew Liles couldn't make relaxing music? Man, i'm just looking forward to seeing this in a physical copy!!

EP par Yearner & Til Det Bergens Skyggene

Now THIS! This was unexpected!!! Unreleased tracks from Til Det Bergens Skyggene!!!!?? Are you fucking kidding me Voldsom? One of my favorite DS Label offering new tracks from one of the best Dungeon Synth band ever? Best news of the year! THIS IS MY ABOSLUTE FUCKING EPOTY !!!!!!! GO GET IT!!! YOU NEED DUNGEON SYNTH! THE WORLD NEEDS DUNGEON SYNTH!

ONWARD TO THE SHADOWS OF THE MOUNTAINS!!!!!

Some Favorites for 2021, part 1

Tales In Scrimshaw par Thomas Tyler

People around me don't understand why I am fascinated with HNW. Can i blame them? It seems like the most annoying music style ever. Yet, some people manage to add something intersting in all that noise surrounding us. Thomas Tyler does it well. Specifically in the second track where noise is not just noise. It is urban and decadent, ambient and terrific.

Subject X Object par Al Lover

Trip-hop, experimental electro beats by this underrated artist. Do you need more? Never heard something that powerful since Donuts. (well, maybe not, but man, this is excellent)

M.Willet - Loops For Reading par M.Willet

Some New-Age Ambient for.. readers? Well TBH, though I read and listen to music A LOT, I don't like listening to music while reading. This album is divided into 2 tracks, the first one being soothing, second one.. disquieting, more dark ambient. Simple yet efficient.

AE par DOMINGAE

First, this is not a remix album of Gantz Graf, Second, this is not Autechre. Ok, maybe the cover made you think so, but this is a solo project from a Föllakzoid member. This is Dark and Ambient without being Dark Ambient. As said in the description "Æ is a result of said experimentation, the dissolution of preconceived notions to create a minimal sound yet rich in textures."

Panor i flera delar par Mauvet Mauve

OMFG, this one is sooo good, don't let this pass! This is a fucking MUST HAVE!! Fans of lo-fi electro and early Tangerine Dream, the cassette is available through 2 different Labels, Brugmanziah and Vermignosis

Une Rose par Beyt Al Tapes

And once again a strong contender for an AOTY list!!! I don't know who the fuck is Adrianus van der Poel, but it seems like a tribute LP to this dutch cyclist. Tape loops, flute, guitar, voices, all of this make this incredible album something unique! (half of the LP has been used as an OST for a short movie) READ GERTRUDE STEIN NOW!

QUARENTINE TRACKED MINE par VARIOUS ARTISTS

Because we all love experimental bedroom artists, because they are mainly unknown, because talent is everywhere. Because we all love compilations, because we all love tapes, and because there is a band called ChurchBurners, GO BACK TO COLESLAW COUNTRY NOW!

friend par i know who you are and you are nothing

Bedroom experimental pop at its best! This is something new, as said in description "a record that crafts perfect pop out of its own dejectedness. interwoven vocal samples and drum machines and deceptive countermelodies fill the stereo field all the way from west orange, new jersey." If that means something to you... FILL YOUR STEREO FIELD NOW!

2009 par Nike Eyes

Bedroom music as it is, as it should be, as it MUST be! Shitty recording, shitty unfaked white noise, shitty voices, shitty obviously improvised songs... how can you NOT love this??? This represents everything i love in bandcamp.. you have no talent? Well, who cares, you are a GENIUS! I don't understand a fucking word, but this is mandatory!!! GET IT NOW!

Nun Darme Stu Turmiento par VLK

You know how much i love WTF albums.. but i think we've crossed the line here with this strange concept tribute album for an Italian Restaurant??? Everything seems out of place, the musical collage seems so random ... it could be terrible to listen yet it is fascinating! Strong, strong contender for AOTY list!!! GET YOUR PIZZA NOW!

Bellectronic (1980-1984) par Meurig Elis Huw

Traditional church bell ringing methods transcribed for synthesizer and rhythm accompaniment. What. The. Fuck. ? Hypnotising! A real hidden gem by Meurig Elis Huws (check his story on the bandcamp page - don't know if it's fake or real, but damn! ) RING THEM BELLS NOW!

Satanic Panic 4: Possession par Vacation Bible School

And now with a new subgenre of a subgenre... ChurchWave ! IMHO, i woulda called that genre "DarkVaporwave" but hey, I guess that Vox Populi Vox Dei is stronger than me (or is just the Vacation Bible School that has the right to do so? )! Anyway, BEHOLD! This is a new experience in vaporwave, more wave than vapor, really exciting and new! Spam the creator to ask a physical copy of his works!! Tape only, of course!! WANDER IN ABANDONED CHURCHES NOW!

PoMo Animal (Selected Compilation Tracks, 2001 - 2010) par o.lamm

When you see the name of Ryuichi Sakamoto, you know it will be good, right? O.Lamm makes glitch/noise like no-one else, soothing and relaxing us with difficult music (well, maybe with the exception of the NWW-esque Icy Crenellations & Caprices) If you don't know his work yet, GET IT NOW.

Plexus II par Encre

Yann Tambour has always been overlooked. Why? Why some talented people don't get the attention they deserve? And even I - as i listened a lot to the first two albums of ENCRE - am to blame! I've discovered this 2006 LP... two weeks ago! This Ambient Modern Classical album could easily be compared to some of Max Richter's works! Travel NOW!

What's Between par WIFE

For a strange reason, this album has not deserved the attention it should have had. Maybe because James Kelly did not made a fuss about this album and did not make any promo out of it? Anyway, if you missed it out, bandcamp gives you a chance to catch-up. As far as I'm concerned, i LOVE this album. So LOVE it NOW!

Baroque par Ena

Highly fucked up experimental electro dub noise glitch ambient by English/Japanese artist ENA. Must have for fans of bips and white noise and glitch and tchhh and plop and flup.

Weightless Vol. 1 (DIFF001) par V/A

A short and excellent compilation by electro experimental label Different Circles (owned by Jack Adams from MumDance). Vinyl is sold out, but you should anyway buy the digital version, the first track by MumDance, Logos And Rabit is worth the price!

Bliss Signal par Bliss Signal

Remember Altar Of Plagues? And how their final album was kind of a let down? James Kelly then gave us Wife and the excellent What's Between album. And then came Bliss Signal. Like AOP, without guitars and vocals.
